What started as a fun run quickly became something more meaningful at Ala Eh, Run!, the 1st DLSL Running Shield, a race held in honor of Raul Patrick “Running Shield” Concepcion.

A De La Salle Lipa High School Batch ’81 alumnus, Patrick ran over 127,000 kilometers in his lifetime, sharing lessons on perseverance, joy, and resilience along the way. Known for his humor and generosity, he inspired many with a simple belief that “Life is good. Running made it better.”

That spirit brought people together, including friends, alumni, runners, and employees from CIC on February 8, 2026, at The Outlets in Lipa, Batangas, not just to cross a finish line, but to carry Patrick’s story forward. Proceeds from the event support the Patrick Concepcion Sports Scholars Fund under the De La Salle Lipa Alumni Association, Inc. Scholarship Program.

The fund supports promising student-athletes, particularly runners, who need financial assistance to pursue both their education and their sport. Through access to training resources, sports equipment, mentorship, and character-building programs focused on leadership and community engagement, the scholarship aims to develop well-rounded individuals on and off the track.

By the end of the run, it was clear that it was never about speed or competition but about community, purpose, and choosing to show up for one another.
