Earlier this year, hundreds of runners gathered at The Outlets @ LIMA Estate in Lipa Batangas, for the Ala Eh, Run! 1st DLSL RunningShield. For many, it was a chance to celebrate a shared passion for running. For De La Salle Lipa, it was also a way to invest in the next generation of student-athletes.
The event, organized by De La Salle Lipa, raised funds for the Patrick Concepcion Sports Scholars Fund, established in honor of Patrick Concepcion, whose love for running and unwavering belief in the value of sports continue to inspire others.
Months later, that commitment is already making a difference.
Recently, CIC Chairman and President Raul Joseph Concepcion met with the scholarship recipients, taking time to get to know the student-athletes and encourage them as they balance the demands of academics and sports. Drawing from Patrick’s example, he reminded the scholars that discipline, consistency, and a willingness to keep learning are qualities that extend far beyond competition.
The Patrick Concepcion Sports Scholars Fund was created to help young athletes pursue both their education and their passion for sports. Beyond financial assistance, the program provides access to training resources, mentorship, and leadership development, equipping scholars with the support they need to continue growing in and out of competition.
For the scholars, the support comes with a shared responsibility: to make the most of the opportunities before them. Whether in the classroom, on the track, or in their respective sports, they now have the chance to build on their abilities with the support of a community that believes in their potential.
Patrick often spoke about what running had given him throughout his life. Through the scholarship that bears his name, that same spirit continues by helping young athletes pursue their own goals with confidence and purpose.
